Sidemount Fundamentals
The purpose of the Open Water Side Mount Diver course is to familiarize divers with the skills, knowledge, planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems, hazards and enjoyment of diving in double cylinders properly configured for open water side mount diving. The Open Water Side Mount course is intended to serve as a safe, supervised introduction to open water side mount diving within the limits of recreational diving limits. Training should emphasize fun and safety.
Prerequisites for entering the course:
Open Water Diver or equivalent. Minimum age of 15 years old.
Duration:
The course will require minimum 3 days of: diving ( 3 dives min ) , academic sessions and 2 or more equipment configuration sessions.

Have minimum of 25 logged dives
Qualification of graduates:
Upon successful completion of this course, the students are considered competent to assemble and utilize sidemount SCUBA gear in an open water environment.
Equipment requirements:

Mask and fins.

Two independent cylinders ( 40 cubic feet or larger required )
-
Exposure suit appropriate to site.

Weight belt or weight system.
-
Two first stage regulator with second stage ( one with a seven foot hose for air sharing ) pressure gauge with 6 inch hose, and low pressure inflator hose.

BCD properly configured for sidemount diving with a low pressure inflator.
-
Diving tool or knife.
-
Diving computer and/or timing device, depth gauge and tables.
-
Slate with pencil.

Technical Sidemount
The purpose of the Technical Sidemount Diver course is to familiarize divers with the skills, knowledge, planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems , hazards and enjoyment of diving with multiple cylinders properly configured for side mount diving.
Prerequisites for entering the course:
Certified Advanced Open Water and Sidemount OW Diver. Minimum age of 18 years old.
50 logged dives.
Duration:
The course will require minimum 3 days of diving ( 5 dives min ) , academic sessions and 2 or more equipment configuration sessions.
Equipment requirements:

Mask and fins.

Two independent cylinders ( 72 cubic feet or larger required )

Two independent stage/deco cylinders ( 40 cubic feet or larger required, AL 80 cubic feet recommended )

Exposure suit appropriate to site.

Weight belt or weight system.

Two first stage regulator with second stage ( one with a seven foot hose for air sharing ) pressure gauge with 6 inch hose, and low pressure inflator hose.

Regulators ( 1st and 2nd stage ) for stage/deco tanks with pressure gauge.

BCD properly configured for sidemount diving with a low pressure inflator.

Overhead Sidemount
Overhead Sidemount Diving course is designed to teach divers to properly use twin cylinders in sidemount configuration for overhead diving activities. It will discuss the configuration and the peripheral equipment, as well as accessories and maintenance.
Prerequisites for entering the course:
Certified Cavern Diver. Minimum age of 18 years old. 50 logged dives.
This course may be taught in conjunction with an internationally recognized Cave(rn) or Wreck Penetration course at the discretion of the PSAI Overhead Sidemount Instructor.
Duration:
The course will require minimum 3 days of: diving ( 3 dives min ) , academic sessions and 2 or more equipment configuration sessions.
